Cars, Cameras, and Coffee in LA

In July 2024… I went outside. WOW what a game changer (because it was with David and Chris). This trip wasn’t like any other, it was 2 days with the boys going out to enjoy some cars, cameras, and coffee. Together we brought the Fuji X100VI, Sony A7RV, and a Canon AE-1 Program. Three cameras at very different price points and with very different abilities. So, after a 3 hour flight or so…

We’ve arrived… we’re in YOU LA

In typical fashion LAX is a complete mess and difficult to get out of. I remember we for some reason walked to the car rental instead of catching a ride there. It was a 30 minute walk and half of it was in traffic because there weren’t any sidewalks. We eventually find the rental place, grab tacos (as you should), and went to our first destination.

Petersen Automotive Museum

This was a very fun museum to go to. Outside there were cool cars in the parking lot that is likely owned by the museum and then inside there’s obviously a huge collection of cars and motorcycles. I’m writing this blog a year late and I honestly don’t remember a ton about it. It’s not that it was boring, I’m just built different (in a bad way). Looking back at some of my photos, it seems I didn’t take much pictures here. I think I was just enjoying the cars and the history. There’s one photo in the carousel below that shows how crazy baby seats were in ye old days.

A bit of exploration

After the museum, we explored the area a bit to kill some time. We just needed to walk around long enough so we can finally check into our hotel. This is the happiest David and Chris has ever been.

Hotel at last

Unfortuantely I don’t have a photo of the bathroom but we had a great time as between the bedroom and the bathroom shower as just a frosted glass! Boys will be boys and what happened in that room stays in that room. It’s at the point where I switch over to use the Canon AE-1 and let David take over the Fuji.

Santa Monica Beeeech

The camera part of the trip I suppose. Yeah, yeah. We were using cameras all day but we specifically went out here to take photos because what else are you suppose to do on a beach? We probably got our best photos out here. Please tell me they’re good!

We got KFC

Taking photos is tough work as you know and I’m a sucker for some Korean fried chicken. If you thought Kentucky instead of Korean you were so wrong. We went to Gol Tong CHICKEN and the chef was on point.

Later we went back to the laterns for some photos.

Coffee at last

Wow, it’s been a whole day and this cars, camera, and coffee trip has had no coffee. How did we survived the first day? No one knows. Nonetheless our first coffee stop of the second day was
